Wellness & Vaccinations

At Animal Hospital of Ludington, we believe that the greatest gift you can ever give to your animal companion is a commitment to wellness care. Routine wellness visits and preventative medicine provide a solid foundation upon which your pet can experience a lifetime of good health. These visits, typically once or twice a year, allow us to assess your pet’s present health, and then monitor his or her ongoing wellness over time. Seeing your pet regularly provides the opportunity to catch any changes or concerns early – before they have a chance to develop into a more serious and costly problem.

Our comprehensive wellness care services are designed to meet your pet’s unique needs at whatever life stage he or she may be in at the time. This may include a first round of vaccinations for your pediatric pet, a thorough health check and diagnostic testing as your companion ages, or the specialized care your senior animal needs to enjoy his or her golden years comfortably. In other words, we’ll be with you every step of the way to help your pet enjoy as long and healthy a life as possible.

Wellness visits at Animal Hospital of Ludington include thorough physical exams during which our doctors will check your pet’s external and internal health. We’ll also discuss such important things as your companion’s weight and nutritional needs, parasite prevention and treatment, behavior and anything else that we feel will help us develop a highly effective, customized approach to managing his or her health.

Another important part of wellness visits is vaccinations. These days, we are able to protect our companion animals from a wide variety of serious, sometimes life-threatening diseases through simple vaccinations. Yet, just because a vaccine is available doesn’t mean your pet needs it. We’ll carefully assess your pet’s unique needs, risk factors and lifestyle to develop a tailor-made vaccination plan that will keep them healthy and safe.

Finally, being able to see you and your pet regularly allows our veterinarians and care team to really get to know you both. We believe that in order to deliver the highest quality veterinary care, we must first develop relationships with our clients and foster lifelong bonds with our patients. The better we get to know and understand your companion, the more we can improve the chances of helping them enjoy as many healthy years as possible by your side.
